An herbal enema specially prepared to pull toxins out of the colon.
Basti is a treatment included in Panchakarma therapy of Ayurveda. It is rectal administration of medications to help the patient excrete the waste in his body. This is the final stage of daily Panchakarma treatment. The basti procedure transports Ayurvedic medicines into the blood and tissue and transforms the memory of damaged cells. The loosened impurities from each day of therapy are flushed out of the body via basti. It is one of the most important and most powerful aspects of Panchakarma treatment.
Medicated enema treats vatta dosha. It is the main etiological factor that causes diseases. It is located in the large intestine where the colon membrane is connected to the layer of bone tissue. This makes the medications given rectally much useful in Panchakarma.
